about

Calvary Chapel of the Golden Isles is a local church, a group of believers under the authority and Lordship of Jesus Christ and local elders. We want God to be glorified in all that we do. We are a part of the family of Christians desiring to grow in our relationship with God and our understanding of the grace of God and of the abundance of His love toward all those who believe as we abide in Christ together. By God’s mercy, we have been called and enabled to love God and to love other people as we obey His Gospel and are conformed into the image of Jesus, the only-begotten Son of God. This change from grace to greater grace occurs by the power of the Holy Spirit as we seek and see the LORD in His Word (2 Corinthians 3) and obey. For this reason we are committed to the consistent exposition of the entire Word of God, the Bible. We are confident that ‘all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.’ (2 Timothy 3).
The local church is responsible for equipping the saints (all true believers) for the work of service and for the building up of the body of the Messiah, the universal church (all true believers everywhere). Our desire is to see believers unified in the faith and the knowledge of Jesus, the Son of God; growing to maturity; measuring to the height of the fullness of the Messiah. We do not want Christians to remain children in understanding and therefore get thrown around with and taken by the abundance of all kinds of false doctrine from people who deceive and twist the scriptures to their own destruction. We want believers to be lovingly speaking the truth and therefore growing up in everything into the Messiah-Jesus- who is the head of the body (the universal Church) and from whom all believers, joined and woven together by what every person provides as we each obey the LORD, causes the body of the Messiah to grow and build itself up in love. (This is a paraphrase of Ephesians 4:11-16).
We need to be built up in the love of God together.
We aren’t a part of any particular denomination, nor are we totally against denominations as such; we are, however, frustrated by the over-emphasis on minor differences that has led to all kinds of bitter and unnecessary divisiveness within the body of the Messiah. The only ground for true Christian fellowship is the love of God revealed in Jesus the Messiah and the clear truth of the good news, the Gospel, as defined in 1 Corinthians 15. These essentials are greater than any minor differences that we possess and without them we can be sure that we aren’t Christians at all! (1 John).
